Tony D'Emanuele is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Manchester . After graduating from the School of Pharmacy, University of London in 1984, Tony undertook his postgraduate studies at the University of Bath in the area of responsive electrophoretic drug delivery. Tony then spent eighteen months as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he investigated the use of ultrasound to modulate drug release from biodegradable implants. Since arriving at Manchester Tony has been a visiting scientist at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Sao Paulo and also the Department of Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tony has been invited to give over 70 lectures, has received five prizes, has one patent, and is the author of over 120 publications. Tony has supervised over 30 research students. Tony was Chairman of the UK-Ireland Controlled Release Society from 1999 to 2001. Tony's research interests include the development of systems to enhance drug solubility and bioavailability and the design of targeted delivery systems based on a dendrimer platform. |
