The IDS-4 preliminary conference agenda focuses on seven technical sessions, including the first ever session dedicated specifically to the commercial and industrial applications of dendrimer-based materials. Each session features a diverse selection of speakers, ranging from internationally recognized pioneers in the field to up-and-coming professionals with exciting new approaches to dendrimer-based research.
Commercial Applications Session
A new feature to IDS series, the commercial applications session is designed to examine the latest ways in which companies are using dendrimer technologies throughout several business environments, ranging from today’s use of dendrimer-based transfection agents and nano diagnostics to dendrimer-based anti-viral and imaging contrast agents. This new session will clearly illustrate the rapidly expanding role of dendrimers as crucial building blocks in the nanotechnology revolution.
Synthesis Sessions
The Synthesis sessions focus on the novel synthetic approaches to dendrimers and the synthesis of new dendritic structures, such as the use of dendritic side-chains with polymers to create new hybrid materials, and the use of dendrimers showing liquid-crystalline behavior for optical displays.
Medical Applications Sessions
Dendrimer-based technologies hold tremendous potential in the medical field. Current research efforts are being pursued in a diverse range of applications, including the use of dendrimers as imaging agents in cancer diagnostics, as carriers for target-oriented drug delivery, and as non-viral transfection agents in gene therapy.
Electronics/Photonics Sessions
These sessions are devoted to the use of dendrimers in nanotechnology and the fields of photonics and electronics, with applications such as the development of new optical sensors and displays, and new heterogeneous catalysts with broad applicability in a range of technical processes requiring the use of immiscible phases, light harvesting devices, and similar applications.
Social Program
IDS-4 features three after hours events, ranging from a casual evening at Mt. Pleasant’s Mountain Town Station Brewing Company and Steakhouse, (a local favorite), to a dinner and keynote presentation at the four-star, nationally recognized Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. Join us for an exciting opportunity to meet and network with the world’s leading researchers and industry experts in the field of dendrimer technologies!
