Dr. Ajaz Hussain; Deputy Director of, U.S. Food And Drug Administration
"Engineering a Proactive Decision System for Pharmaceutical Quality"

Ajaz HussainDr. Ajaz Hussain is the Deputy Director of the Office of Pharmaceutical Science (OPS) in CDER, FDA. This is a Senior Biomedical Research Scientist position that is parallel to the Senior Executive Position in the U.S. Government Service. In his role at OPS he has oversight responsibilities for the development of science based regulatory policies and the management of both review and research activities in the offices of New Drug Chemistry, Generic Drugs, Biotechnology Products, and Testing & Research. Prior to this appointment he served as the Director, Office of Testing and Research. In addition to his responsibilities at the FDA, Dr. Hussain currently holds adjunct faculty appointments at the School of Pharmacy, Purdue University (Adjunct Professor of Industrial Pharmacy); School of Engineering, University of Michigan (Adjunct Professor of Pharmaceutical Engineering); and is Visiting Professor at the University of Basel.
